CEN and CENELEC highlight the importance of European standardization through a joint declaration to the new MEPs who will be elected in the European elections on May 26th.
CEN and CENELEC have a very important role in the UE: with more then 24,000 European standards, the standardization bodies have the fundamental task of supporting the harmonization of the European market. In fact, the European Single Market system is supported by a standardization that is adopted, for each individual technical standard, without changes in each of the 34 member countries, thus streamlining access to the Single Market itself.
Precisely for this reason, the role of bodies such as CEN and CENELEC is fundamental and has a central role in that inclusive system, based on the consensus that is the European Standardization System. This system connects business, social stakeholders, consumers and politicians in order to develop updated and widely developed technical standards.
Mr. Michele Chemolli, CEO of SanCo, actively contributes to the work of CEN on the standardization of fire doors and fire curtains.
SanCo fully supports the declaration of CEN and CENELEC because of the importance that those institutions had in recent years, especially with reference to the work of support for harmonization standards. In fact, the inter-institutional dialogue covers a fundamental element in the European legislative path.
