The prestigious Bocconi University began the redevelopment of the premises of a former dairy in Milan to expand its facilities and construct a new campus supporting the university’s academic activities. The project is due to be completed in 2019, to plans by Japanese architects SANAA (an international studio with headquarters in Tokyo). In the DORMS building, the student residence, builder Percassi turned to the services of San.Co Costruzioni Tecnologiche spa in a project supervised by Milanese studio Costa-Zanibelli.
The Trentino-based company supplied the student residences with Isofire FM30 wooden fire barrier doors with a fire resistance of EI 30’ and a soundproofing level of Rw 33 dB. The hinge and closure mechanism are concealed within the steel frame on the main doors; the utility rooms have Isofire LZ58.60 wooden doors with a fire resistance of EI 60’ and concealed hinges and closure mechanisms. The doors inside the residential units, separating the living area from the bedroom area, are high quality doors from the Adea series, while the bathroom doors are from the Verona Collection. The Bocconi Urban Campus represents a significant urban challenge, creating a futuristic academic setting while employing particularly efficient technological construction solutions.
